Clear Out & Refresh Your Wardrobe
Step 1: Assess your wardrobe
Identify items in your wardrobe that you no longer wear and take them out - we like to place these items on the bed.
These are items that you do not reach for and are ready to let go of. As our bodies, styles and tastes change, it's important to clear out those items that no longer serve us.
Think about the fit, colour, material, style etc.
If you are unsure of a few items and aren't ready to part with them, make a note to learn how to style them. Keep them in one spot. Let go of them next time if you still haven't worn them.
There may be items you love but that don’t fit right. Could you have these altered to fit you better? Are they worth investing in? If so, keep them and add them to a bag. Make a note to go to the local alterations store.
Step 2: Sell & Donate
Now you have all the items laid out that you are ready to part with it's time to sort them into two piles: Sell & Donate.
Check out The Trading Rack sell page to see what we are currently looking. If there are items that match the description, add them to a bag and get in touch with us.
Any other items that are still in good condition and ready to be worn by others - drop them off to your local donation store.
For anything that is not in good condition, try repurpose them at home or learn more from these organisations
Step 3: Organise
Look back at your wardrobe and make sure you are happy with the items and the layout.
You could organise your clothes by product type/colour.
For any items out of season, we like to pop these away in a harder to reach area of the wardrobe as we won’t be reaching for them this season.
Step 4: Adding to your wardrobe
When your items sell at The Trading Rack you get a percentage of each sale. Using this money is a great way to re-invest in those pieces you are looking for.
Have a look for some gaps in your wardrobe. Create a wishlist of what you want to add (we usually create a note for this on our phones).
Think about your wardrobe staples. We like to invest in these first as they are the building blocks to our outfits. Think about what colours you reach for the most and the brands and fabrics you like. If you are interested in buying an item, think about ways you would style it and prepare for events coming up so you are ready for the season ahead. Check out our wedding season collection.
When you are ready to shop, have your wishlist handy. When these items pop up you can add them to your Trading Rack wishlist. Our new arrivals are every Monday & Thursday.
